2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e Heads to 2015 Shanghai Motor Show
The 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e officially unveiled a couple of days ago is already making sensation amongst BMW fans all over the world, especially now when the model will be decided for a worldwide public debut, at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. More than that, the model has been already showcased in the first official video!
And for that, Chinese people will have another reason of seeing the model in Shanghai, where the plug-in hybrid will also debut on the market. The success story: gorgeous looks, lots of space inside and an autonomous powertrain under the hood.
Amongst the car`s top features is the space inside, which makes way to an increased cargo capacity of 1,720 liters, with the rear seats being folded. Otherwise, you get to enjoy the overall cargo capacity of 500 liters.
Apart from that, the 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e is coming with a conventional 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline unit, developing 245 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque.
The unit is also backed by an electric motor, capable of providing an additional of 113 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The electric motor is also hooked to a 9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which can be recharged in around 4 hours, and has a mile range of 31 km at a top speed of 120 km/h.
The overall power now stands at a good 313 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, the 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e is capable of reaching 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, at a topping of 210 km/h.
The 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e will be built in South Carolina, US, at BMW`s plant at Spartanburg, along with other BMW models, such as the X3, the X4, the standard X5 as well as the X6. The model will first enter the Chinese market and then will make its way up to Europe and United States later on.
